Aprés Ski Guide ~ Stowe, Vermont

Not only does Stowe, Vermont have some of the best skiing terrain on the East Coast at Stowe Mountain Resort, but we also have an awesome après ski scene! We wanted to create a guide to help you navigate the aprés ski scene like a local.

Best Spots for Drinking Beer in Your Ski Pants

The Matterhorn: Sometimes, you just need to have a beer (or a few!) on the way home from the slopes. You will find the local ski bums at the Matterhorn, which is going to be your first stop on the way down Mountain Road. It’s an eclectic bar that serves both sushi & pizza, and the bar is lined with sticker covered mugs that belong to the locals. It’s a Stowe classic, and an après ski must.

Piecasso: Another great place to stop while still in your ski pants is Piecasso, where you can get 2 slices of pizza & a beer for only $7.25! They also serve the Alchemist’s Heady Topper & have a great selection of Vermont craft beers on tap. It’s both a family friendly & fun atmosphere to hangout after skiing!

Sushi Yoshi: Some of the best aprés deals in town are at Sushi Yoshi. Every day from 3-6, you can get free wings at the bar! And on Tuesday’s, you can get Alchemist beers for only $4!

Food to Fill the Hungry Tummy

The Skinny Pancake: One word: Crepes! Located right on the mountain in the Spruce Peak Plaza, the Skinny Pancake is the the perfect meal to satisfy you until dinner. Our go to order has always been the Lovemaker, which is a crepe filled with chocolate hazelnut spread and strawberries. Delicious!

Doc Ponds: Always one of our favorites after skiing because the food is delicious and it’s a great place to go with friends. Beer, light bites to eat, good music, and booze filled milkshakes. Do we need to say anything else?

Picnic Social: Casual atmosphere full of comfy lounge seating, great food, strong libations and good vibes! Our go to is always the cheese plate and the spicy cider wings, which are perfect aprés ski snacks!

Live Music in Stowe

Topnotch Resort: After a long day of skiing, it’s always nice to chill out and listen to some live music. The Roost at Topnotch has live music from 4-7 every Friday & Saturday night during the Winter as part of their First Chair, Last Call music series.

Idletyme Brewing Company: This Winter, they are doing live music every Wednesday night in the pub from 8-11:30. They often have other music events as well, so keep an eye on their events page for more info!

Tres Amigos and the Rusty Nail Stage: The infamous music venue lives on! It’s even better now that there’s an awesome Mexican restaurant attached to it. Tacos & music? I mean, it doesn’t get any better than that! Anyway, they bring in some great acts every Friday & Saturday night, and some week nights as well. Check out their full schedule, and during peak times make sure to buy your ticket in advance in case it sells out!

Where to Keep the Party Going

Stowe Bowl: Sometimes, the party in Stowe just never ends! After dinner, stop by Stowe Bowl which is open until 10pm. It’s a boutique bowling alley that serves food, drink and lots of good times! They have an interactive scoring system where you can take silly photos and send competitive messages to your friends on different lanes. It’s always a blast!

Rimrocks: For more late night fun, check out Rimrocks which is open until 2am. There is always a DJ on the weekends to get the dance floor going, and they have pool tables and some fun arcade games in the back. Just don’t stay out too late or you’ll miss first chair in the morning!

Insider Tip: You have to do après ski in style! Check out Après Headwear, a company started in Stowe (now in Vail, CO), for some awesome hats to hide that helmet hair! They’ve got an awesome Stowe Skyline design, which features the ridge of Mt. Mansfield. From the café to the après, they’ve got you covered!
